Welcome to the website for Hunston Village, Chichester, West Sussex. Hunston is a small, semi-rural village, set some 1 1/2 miles south of Chichester city centre. With relatively few houses (about 500), it has managed to keep a real village feeling. Its Post Office, Greengrocer, Newsagent, Pub, Hair Stylist and small businesses give the village a character all its own. With the old Chichester Ship Canal connecting the village to the city, it is only a short cycle ride or gentle walk along the level towpath to reach the shops and many other attractions of Chichester. On the way you will share the company of ducks, swans, geese, coots and moorhens with perhaps an occasional glimpse of a kingfisher. The village is very much community based, with its village hall and active community club. The club organises events throughout the year, including Christmas parties for the children, an annual firework display, social and sporting events including cabarets, football and golf. The village hall makes its own contribution to the village, being regularly used for Short Mat Bowls, Woman's Institute meetings, Art Groups, the monthly Five Villages Lunch, Dance tuition groups, Brownies and Yoga, as well as for wedding receptions, anniversary and birthday parties and the occasional fund raising sale. The aim of this website is to be useful, interesting and helpful in developing the village community. If anyone would like to help run the site, use it to promote local events of interest to the village, please get in touch with either the Parish Clerk or any of the Parish Councillors.
